Comcast signs on to upgrade video, data and voice for Atlanta Hawks home court

Announcing its second Atlanta-area stadium deal in the past month, Comcast Business Services (NASDAQ: CMCSA) says it's been contracted to integrate video, voice and data services into Philips Arena, home of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks.

Philips Arena will be consolidating the work of two previous vendors. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In March, Comcast announced that it had struck a deal to become the chief technology partner and anchor tenant of SunTrust Park, the new home being built for Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves.

Comcast has also announced recent stadium-technology deals with baseball's Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers and the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

"Internet connectivity impacts all aspects of our operation, from enabling the media to circulate their coverage, to supporting the coaching and front office team members with everything from scouting to ticket sales," said Andrew Steinberg, executive VP and chief revenue officer for the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena. "When we decided to upgrade our technology, we wanted to simplify our communications using a single provider."
